Issues with Shared Assets

Hello!

I’m trying to streamline the rendering process for our team and have ran into some road blocks. We want to have a copy of the default assets folders that would be located in a shared OneDrive folder. Our goal is to be able to add custom materials, models, textures, labels and scene templates for everyone to use. Then each person would change their folder preferences to direct to these shared folders. If we add a new material to this folder then everyone’s Keyshot would have access to it. It seems achievable to me but we’ve seen some issues already.

  1. When we add a new asset the library doesn’t show it even after restarting or refreshing.
  2. There isn’t an option to link to a template folder in the preferences. I created a scene template for our team but I’m not sure how to direct everyone’s Keyshot to use the shared folder.
  3. When importing a material with custom textures and/or labels is there a way to specify a folder to download these textures and labels into?

Thanks!

Maybe @synje.andersen can help you, I saw him post about using OneDrive/network folders. I’ve not much experience with OneDrive but maybe it works better if you would connect to OneDrive using FTP, maybe that removes some of the extra layers and make it look more like a normal network drive. Just guessing though.

Hey,
I am not sure if I can be of much help on this, but we do have a section about setting up shared folders in the manual. You can find that here in the section about Customize each folder.

Also, just for the record, I am a female.
