Leveled up the scene after Will Gibbons tutorials: before and after

I watched Will Gibbons tutorials and set up the scene better than before. Here’s the wall render: before and after. I properly adjusted the lighting, environment, and materials.

The painter who painted the wall should have sifted his paint. :joy:
Nice!

Great work Yevhenii! With such fine structures lighting is so important if you want to have it survive a bit of distance of the camera. Sweet texture as well.

Thanks for sharing! Do you have a more direct comparison of the before and after image where the camera doesn’t change? It’s a bit of a challenge to understand what the image looked after you revisited it.

Hi Will, thanks for your message.
At first, I thought I needed to add more filters to the render — to create an effect similar to popular TikTok videos.
But people told me that wasn’t the right direction, and that I should aim for realism instead.
And this is the result that people liked. It’s a frame from the video animation.
I added the KeyShot tag just for fun

I’ve been looking for a course like yours for a long time — something that would help me build a strong 3D portfolio in the future.
Like many 3D artists, I can create a good model, but I’ve always struggled with presenting it properly. I couldn’t figure out what kind of course I actually needed, or what exactly I was aiming for — but I knew for sure that I wanted to learn how to present my work the right way.

Because what’s the point of spending a whole week making a great 3D model if you end up showcasing it poorly? Why even put in all that effort?

Your course is exactly what I was searching for.
I’m still going through it, but I already feel like I’ll have a much clearer understanding of everything by the end. Of course, there are some things in the course that I already knew — but there are also so many subtle details I didn’t.

There’s a big difference between adjusting sliders based on intuition and simply choosing what feels right — and actually understanding every setting and knowing what it does and where it will lead.

Funny, that’s also what I told Will after watching some of his videos. For me the ‘why’ you do certain things in a certain way is important and Will always explains that ‘why’. A lot of tutorials don’t really explain why you do things a certain way so in the end it feels more you learned a kind of ‘trick’ to get to a certain result but that will only work on exactly the same things. My brain needs to see the logic of things and it’s a big help if it gets well explained.

Wow great comparison, the difference to the top and bottom photos is  can i ask what tutorial was it you had learnt this from please?

@yevhenii.l and @oscar.rottink Thanks for the kind words and sharing what you feel is valuable in learning content. I care a lot about empowering people to create with confidence, rather than having to memorize or copy what I show in a tutorial. Cheers!
