Luscious print Numbers

I would like to create the effect of thickly printed numbers on a watch dial. This effect is achieved by applying several layers of ink, which creates a nicely domed effect.

I tried to recreate this effect on modelled numbers with the curvature node. The numbers are extruded with a flat cap. However, the result is not as domed as I would like it. Modeling it, would be a pain as well, I guess. has anyone an idea on how to tackle this issue?

I think you overcomplicate it a bit. Simple label with bump or displacement map can do the task.
