HI everyone,
I have currently some issues with one rendering,
I would like to have a really nice light on the ground from the “perfume’s liquid”

Does it get better if you render the image longer/with more samples? Looks like it might not be completely done.
Hello Joakim, render took 3 hours to render
sample is 1,5, is it enough ?
Did you tried it in Product mode instead of Interior?
Hi Oleksii, just launched one render in product mod and increased sample render to 2
let’s see
Hi, can you share a screenshot of your render settings with us?
You could try to set the render engine to CPU instead of ‘Inherit from Real-Time view’. I assume Keyshot will use your GPU while rendering. Nothing wrong with that but the difference is that the samples a GPU renders are less quality than samples a CPU will render.
Yes GPU is way faster but you need way more samples for a high quality image.
You could try to render this image while using the CPU as render engine. I would advise to set the Pixel Filter Size to 1 and render samples to 200. Maybe it will make a difference.
Just for testing; lower your resolution for faster render times. When you found the correct render settings for this project you can set your resolution to the required size for your final render.
thank you for your comment, i am testing various renderings with and without gpu.
i am also trying to lower the resolution too: i wasted quite a lot of time because i don’t know much about the ratio between size/pixel filter and render sample.
my computer is also outdated ^^ it is difficult to make renderings with a i5 with 1060 gtx
I’m not sure if you can share the scene as ksp (via wetransfer.com and a private message maybe) else I could give it a go to see what really would help the scene. Caustics do tend to cause more noise in my experience but maybe there are some other tricks to try and also keep the render times manageable.
Hi Oscar, sorry fo the late reply, i was on holiday ^^
sure, i can send you the ksp file and you can check
Hi,
Yes, resolution is a strong lever to get rendering times smaller. Be aware that upscaling by 2 your resolution is 4 time longer to render. You have 4 times more pixels in your image.
1920x1080 : 2.073MPx >>> 3840 x 2160 : 8.294MPx
Hi Pierre,
I have a bad habit: i always render from scratch with super high resolution and i loose a lot of time
what kind of resolution do you do when you make your first renders ?
how much sample do you add ?
With your scene you can also do a ‘region render’ basically it will only render a selected square in your image. If you use that on the hardest render area it gives a nice idea about the number of samples needed.
Must say I also tend to complete renders but like you say, it’s a waste of time sometimes. And if the resolution is too low you also won’t see the noise and you can get disappointed after render.
