Physics simulation limitations?

For the jewellery challenge I was trying to create a little commercial around my fictional piece of jewellery. Therefor I was trying to do a simple drop some diamonds at a cube for some close up shots.

But the things jump into space. I tried a really really high gravity, friction at 5 and zero bounciness but they still get lost.

It’s not really the complexity (each diamond is 110 tris) but I think the problem is either they are too small around 1.5 cm^2 (which is actually 10x the real size) or it has to do with the pointy bottom side of the diamonds.

Maybe someone can point me in a direction for a solution or tell me these kind of shapes will give trouble. If so I can try to do some simulation in MODO and see if I can import it back as alembic, will have educational value for me.

The clip has the gravity around same as real but I tried really low and really high the result was always like the clip.

I scaled and rotate the things a bit which worked better. There were some jumpers still which I just removed. It’s quite amazing how fast every frame rendered.

There are some great Physics improvements in the next release (2023). You should have Beta access already under the Challenges. If you want to load that scene and see how it performs vs 11.3, that would be great. Let me know if you need any help getting set up on Beta.
