Put together a new product model of this super innovative audio recorder, Teenage Engineering TP-7 Field Recorder. It is a nice blend of old school analogue combined with new age digital design. The main feature being the motorized tape reel, designed with high quality brush motors with ball bearings that receives inputs with Hall effect sensors so you can scrub your audio files that gives a direct input interface. Combined with a side rocker, allows for intuitive control over fast forward and rewind actions. Just hit the Memo button and start recording!
I modeled this using Blender and used Keyshot as a render engine, modeled to perfectly match the physical product 1:1.
Really nice! Didn’t know the product but love the simple design, a bit oldskool Braun like. The way you lit it makes it look almost an illustration instead of a render.
Thanks Oscar! When I have more time to play with it, I think I may create a set of environment images for it with more shadows and contrast, as the product doesn’t have much contrast in the design, my subtle shadows still make the product seem kinda flat.
Yeah it’s kind of flat but must say I do like that illustration feel because it makes it also very clean.
I think if you would use an occlusion texture over the metal casing material it would also give already a bit more depth since it will accentuate the small differences in height there are.
I’m currently working on some kind of studio setting which should look worn, damaged etc and I must say it’s not that easy to do the opposite of what I usually do.
