Texture and label warping

Hello! I’ve spent a few hours searching for methods of overcoming the UV texture warping and labelling challenges described below. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Next day edit, I’ve since stumbled across my own solutions to the issues and have posted them. Thanks very much to everyone who commented potential solutions.

Issue: UV textures warped despite mesh being uniform, and getting a ‘failed to prepare nurbs for tessellation’ message.
Solution: Select the model. Open the ‘Unwrap UV’ function. Select the ‘Set direction guide’ and click two points along the mesh horizontally. Confirm and click ‘Unwrap’. Then you can rotate your texture to the orientation you like and it won’t be warped. Didn’t need to retessellate in the end, so avoided the ‘failed to prepare NURBS’ error message.

Issue: Labelling bleeding through to both sides of model.
Solution: Use the ‘Split Object Surfaces’ function to make the model faces independent. Unlink the materials in the parent that is generated (it will also unlink all the child materials automatically). Turn the label off in the material settings of the face you don’t want it applied to.

You need proper UV mapping for your model and texture applied in the UV mode. Try to UV-map in KS, if it will fail - outside it.

Hello Oisin!

As @oleksii.rybakov mentioned before, you need a proper UV mapping. Maybe try to re-tesselate it in advance, this can also improve the UV mapping.

Regarding 2. picture: in the left corner you can see that the lines are not running parallel to the edge of the model, therefore you will have trouble with the RealCloth, regardles of how often or good you will do the UV mapping.

Regarding label: First click on label and disable “both sides” + you have to change the depth of the label: the depth for labels acts as an extrusion. If your model is 2mm thick and your label’s depth is 2mm, you will see it on both sides. Anything <2mm you will see it only on one side.

Hello Oisin!

May I request access to the model file? I can assist with UV optimization and corrections. It would be preferable if the file is in the C4D format. Thank you.
